I have enjoyed many camping and caravanning holidays over the years, and own a vintage caravan, so this series is revisiting those fond memories. A fishing tackle box and bucket, a stripy annexe, the amenities block and some pine trees are how I remember it all.

Inspired by an archival photo, I just loved the garage doors on this house and its symmetry. I’m not sure if the doors were ever blue, but it seemed the perfect hue.

Another study of my favourite tree, and its curious fruits.
I love the contrast of the oranges and reds against the green of the leaves, and the texture and shapes of the fruit.
Each of these prints are individually hand coloured so each is a unique artwork.

My favourite tree is the pandanus, with its geometric spiral leaf growth and its strange buttress roots. I have made many works over the years of these trees and its fruit in many media, with this a study of the unusual root structure. I have enjoyed many beach picnics in their shade, and they say ‘beach’ to me always.

A glimpse over the fence is often all we see of some older houses these days, and this cutie was spotted for its striking paint scheme and classic rooflines.

The yellow handrails and retro typography on this block of units always makes me smile, and it had to be included in this series. I hope to always see examples of this architecture on the Gold Coast.

Burrows Street, Biggera Waters.
A close friend’s house which features blonde brick and a beautiful breezeblock carport. The Poinciana tree frames the view to the canal perfectly. I substituted a more period correct vehicle and neighbouring houses in the final artwork.
